Selecting the right heat pump

The choice of heat pump depends on heat demand, the heat distribution system, building insulation, available electrical capacity and the required application. An air-to-water heat pump can be used for space heating, cooling and, in combination with a suitable cylinder, domestic hot water.

For installers, the technical system design is especially important. Key factors include output, flow temperature, refrigerant, sound level, hydraulic connection, buffer tank volume, hot water capacity and the choice between all-electric or hybrid operation. A well-designed system prevents short cycling, unnecessary energy consumption and comfort issues.

• Determine the required heating output based on heat demand
• Check whether the distribution system is suitable for low-temperature heating
• Choose between all-electric, hybrid or project-based system design
• Match the buffer tank, hot water cylinder and installation set to the system
• Consider sound level, placement, pipe length and free airflow
• Check electrical connection, protection and available electrical capacity
• Use suitable accessories for installation, servicing and system protection
