FAQ
From orientation to installation

Practical answers you can actually use.

A heat pump should not be selected solely on the basis of its rated output or a high COP. The building, heat demand, heat distribution system, settings and overall system design are equally important.

That is why we cover more than product specifications. We also explain how to make a first estimate yourself and when a professional calculation is required.

Start by determining what the building actually needs.

Choosing the right heat pump starts with the building's actual heat demand, not with a model number.

01

Is an iGarden InverX7 suitable for my home?

The iGarden InverX7 can be used in many different types of homes, but suitability depends on the complete heating system. Floor area alone does not provide enough information for a reliable assessment.

Important factors include the building's heat loss, insulation level, desired indoor temperature, heat distribution system and the water temperature required to keep the property comfortable on cold days.

Underfloor heating and other low-temperature systems are generally beneficial for heat pump efficiency. With existing radiators, it should be checked whether they can provide sufficient heat at lower water temperatures.

Insulation Lower heat loss means less heating capacity is required from the heat pump.
Heat distribution The required water temperature has a major impact on efficiency.
Sizing Design capacity must match the building's heat demand during cold conditions.
02

What size iGarden heat pump do I need?

The InverX7 range is available in 8, 11, 13 and 16 kW versions. The correct model should be selected according to the required heating capacity rather than floor area alone.

For a first estimate, the heated floor area can be multiplied by an approximate heat loss per square metre. A highly insulated modern home will require considerably fewer watts per square metre than an older, poorly insulated property.

Quick first estimate Floor area in m² × estimated heat loss in W/m² ÷ 1,000 = required capacity in kW

This method is intended for initial orientation only. A professional heat-loss calculation should be used for the final selection.

Please note: solar gains, ventilation losses, thermal bridges, desired indoor temperature and local design outdoor temperature are not calculated individually in this simplified estimate. A professional heat-loss calculation should be carried out before final selection.

03

Can the InverX7 heat my entire home?

Yes. The InverX7 can be used as part of a fully electric heating system. Whether this is suitable for a particular property depends on heat demand, the available electrical connection and the overall heating-system design.

For all-electric operation, the heat pump must still provide sufficient capacity at low outdoor temperatures. The selection should therefore consider not only nominal output, but also the available heating capacity at the design outdoor temperature and required flow temperature.

If domestic hot water is also produced by the heat pump, a suitable hot-water cylinder is required. Depending on the system, a buffer vessel, hydraulic separation and additional control components may also be used.

What does this mean in everyday use?

Noise, electricity consumption and efficiency depend on much more than a single value on a datasheet.

04

How quiet is an iGarden InverX7 heat pump?

The InverX7 has been developed with quiet and stable operation in mind. Thanks to inverter control, the compressor does not need to operate continuously at maximum output and can adapt its capacity to the current heating demand.

When comparing noise figures, it is important to distinguish between sound power and sound pressure. Sound power is a property of the unit itself. Sound pressure at a specific location varies according to distance, installation position and surroundings.

An outdoor unit installed directly beside a hard wall, in a corner or between two façades may be perceived differently from the same unit in a more open location. Correct positioning and vibration isolation are therefore just as important as the manufacturer's stated value.

How much electricity does an iGarden heat pump use?

Electricity consumption cannot be determined from the heat pump's heating output alone. An 11 kW heat pump, for example, does not automatically consume 11 kW of electricity. The stated heating output represents the amount of heat the system can deliver.

For a realistic annual estimate, the annual heat demand and seasonal efficiency are much more relevant. If the property currently uses a gas boiler, historical gas consumption can provide a useful starting point.

Estimate based on gas consumption Gas used for heating × 8.8 kWh × boiler efficiency ÷ expected SCOP = heat pump electricity consumption

Where possible, use gas consumption over several years and correct for gas used only for cooking or domestic hot water.

Estimated gross electricity consumption

This calculation is an energy estimate, not a consumption guarantee. Actual use will vary with winter temperatures, flow temperature, hot-water use, system settings, indoor temperature and seasonal efficiency.

06

What does a COP of up to 7.0 mean?

COP stands for Coefficient of Performance and describes the relationship between electrical energy used and heat delivered under specific test conditions.

A COP of 7.0 means that under the relevant test condition, approximately 7 kWh of heat can be delivered for 1 kWh of electrical energy. It is a specific operating point, not a fixed year-round efficiency.

As the temperature difference the heat pump must overcome increases, efficiency changes. Mild outdoor conditions with a low water temperature therefore cannot be directly compared with severe frost and a high flow temperature.

For a specific property, the performance curves and seasonal efficiency are therefore particularly important.

The heat pump as part of a smarter energy system.

The InverX7 combines inverter technology, intelligent control and options for external energy management.

07

What does the InverX7 AI control system do?

A building's heat demand changes continuously. The required heating capacity is not the same during the day, at night or at different outdoor temperatures. The InverX7 control system therefore works together with the inverter technology to adapt operation to changing conditions.

Rather than operating only in an on/off manner, an inverter heat pump can modulate compressor output. This allows the system to operate closer to the actual heating demand.

Intelligent control does not replace correct system design. Hydraulics, settings, heating curve, heat distribution system and correct sizing remain essential to overall performance.

08

Why does the InverX7 use R290 refrigerant?

R290, also known as propane, is a natural refrigerant with favourable thermodynamic properties and a very low climate impact. It is therefore increasingly used in modern air-to-water heat pumps.

The refrigerant is contained within the closed refrigerant circuit of the monobloc outdoor unit. Heat is then transferred to the heating system through the water circuit.

R290 is flammable. Specific safety and installation requirements therefore apply to system design, positioning and work on the unit.

09

Can the InverX7 work with solar panels?

Yes. Solar energy and external energy management can be considered when designing the system. The InverX7 provides options for PV and SG Ready control.

The principle is that a suitable external controller can signal the heat pump when, for example, additional self-generated solar electricity is available.

Depending on the system design, energy can temporarily be stored as heat in the building, a buffer vessel or a domestic hot-water cylinder.

PV Ready Options for incorporating available solar electricity into system control.
SG Ready External switching states for smart energy and grid management.
Heat storage Available energy can be stored as heat depending on system configuration.
10

Can I expand my iGarden system later?

A modern heating system does not have to consist of one isolated appliance. An iGarden system can be designed with additional components and future energy-management options in mind.

The InverX7 can form the basis for space heating and, depending on system design, cooling and domestic hot-water production.

Planning the wider ecosystem in advance makes it easier to prepare pipework, electrical connections, storage capacity and controls for potential future expansion.

InverX7 The central heat source for the heating system.
Domestic hot water A suitable cylinder for domestic hot-water storage.
Buffer & hydraulics Configured around system volume and hydraulic requirements.
Smart energy PV, SG Ready and external energy management can become part of the overall system.

Good technology starts and ends with good installation.

Warranty, correct sizing and installation quality are all part of the same system.

11

What warranty do I receive with an iGarden InverX7?

The InverX7 uses a structured warranty model that distinguishes between the complete unit, other components and the compressor.

3 years Complete replacement warranty in the event of a leak
5 years Warranty on other components
7 years Warranty on the compressor

The official iGarden warranty conditions always apply regarding registration, eligibility, maintenance requirements and possible exclusions.

12

Who installs an iGarden InverX7?

Actual efficiency and comfort are not determined by the heat pump alone. Heat-loss calculation, hydraulic design, pipe sizing, flow rates, electrical connection, control configuration and commissioning are equally important.

This is why iGarden works with a structured partner network for installation companies. Within the iGarden Certified Partner programme, installation quality, product knowledge and compliance with prescribed technical installation standards are key requirements.

A certified partner should understand not only how to connect the heat pump, but how the complete system should be designed, commissioned and checked.
