Corrosion protection for water heaters and storage tanks

The ENS 1248495 magnesium anode is designed to protect domestic hot water boilers, combination cylinders and storage tanks against internal corrosion. Acting as a sacrificial anode, it helps prevent damage to the steel tank and significantly extends the service life of the system.

How a magnesium anode works

The magnesium material attracts corrosion activity and is gradually consumed over time. This process protects the storage tank from rust formation and material degradation.

Suitable for hot water storage systems

The anode is commonly used in domestic hot water boilers, indirect cylinders, combination cylinders and other hot water storage systems requiring corrosion protection.

Essential component in many storage tanks

Many domestic hot water cylinders, combination cylinders and buffer tanks with domestic hot water coils rely on a magnesium anode as a critical corrosion protection component. Without a functioning anode, the steel tank can deteriorate much faster.

For this reason, many manufacturers require periodic inspection and timely replacement of the anode as part of routine maintenance. This includes various ALPS EXCLUSIVE storage systems as well as many other brands on the market.

What is the service life of a magnesium anode?

The service life of a magnesium anode depends on water quality, boiler usage and the size of the storage tank. In practice, the average service life is usually between 2 and 5 years. Hard water, intensive use or high domestic hot water demand may require earlier replacement.

Many manufacturers recommend inspecting the magnesium anode at least every two years. If more than approximately 50% of the magnesium has been consumed, replacement is recommended to maintain effective corrosion protection.

G 3/4" M connection

The G 3/4" M allows straightforward installation and replacement during maintenance procedures.
